Thank you.

I don’t want to make this long, it wouldn’t be what Donna would want anyway. But I do feel compelled to write.

Donna Brett – former Councillor, Mayor (acting) and Freeman of the City of Port Alberni – passed away recently.

Donna was one of the first people to sign my nomination papers for Port Alberni City Council back in 2014. It was when her and her husband Gary appeared on my doorstep for a chat, that I realized I might have a chance to be councillor. They made it hit home that there would be a deep responsibility to the position. While on Council, she would call every once in a while and make sure I was OK. She would always offer a bit of advice, comfort, and encouragement. She supported me through thick and thin.

We all have special people in our lives, but some stand out as mentors and rocks.

Donna dedicated her life to improving Port Alberni. She also improved me.

Thank you Donna.

My Deepest Condolences to Gary and all of Donna’s family and the many people Donna touched in her life.
