Does that strike anyone else as being a little weird?
Well, in a first for me, I actually agree with something an Alberta Conservative MP said today in the House:
We fought long and hard for the right to vote, for the right to participate in universities and the work force, and the right to make our own choices. We don’t need old white guys telling us what to do.
Even though she’s obviously putting on some classic House Theatrics, she’s got a point. How much consultation is going on with actual parents and people who would be directly affected by Child Care in this country? Of the Ministers and Deputies doing the negotiations… how many are women, or recent parents?
These are questions no one seems to be asking, or answering. And it goes to show that in the Halls of Power, we still have a long way to go before women have an equal voice… for the most part, decisions are still made by the Old White Guys.
